Love these pieces from Fernando Vicente's "Venus" exhibit. I've always been a big fan of circular works, and these are wonderfully composed, simultaneously painterly and extremely graphic. The sharp contrast between warm and cool colors, both within the skin, and then the anatomy beneath, also creates a great sense of depth and atmosphere. Despite being done by others before, the whole, "skin peeling away" thing remains quite inventive as well, exposing surprisingly elements in a variety of ways. Check out Fernando's website for more from this series, as well as other works with different subject matter.
